The effects of Soda/Pop on your body

I know I have been harping on and on about diet early on here, but that’s because it is so important! Many of the health and weight troubles people face today could be resolved by simply switching to a healthier, more natural diet. But on to my topic:

SODA/POP IS EVIL!!!

Don’t believe me? Here’s what one serving will do to you:

Under 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (well over 100% of       your     recommended daily intake.) normally you would vomit, but phosphoric acid       cuts the flavor allowing you to take it all in.

~20 minutes: Blood sugar spikes, this causes a insulin burst. (The effect is basically instant diabetes) The liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can   get its hands on into fat.

~40 minutes: Pupils dilate, blood pressure rises, as a response the livers dumps       more    sugar into the bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in the brain are now   blocked preventing drowsiness.

45 minutes: The body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of   the brain. (FYI: Just like heroine!)

>60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in the lower            intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high     doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of           calcium.

>60 Minutes: It is now assured that the body will evacuate the bonded calcium,    magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water.

>60 minutes: Start to have a sugar crash. Can become irritable and/or sluggish. Urine has removed any water you might have received from the soda. But not before   infusing that water with valuable nutrients your body could have used for building            strong bones and teeth.

Oh, you drink diet soda? That’s just as bad.

  • Carbonation has been shown to remove calcium from bones and damage teeth
  • Still contains phosphoric acid
  • Aspartame (a common sweetener) has shown possible links to cancer
  • Artificial sweeteners have been linked to brain and artery damage (FYI: Splenda was accidentally discovered while trying to create new pesticides)
  • Artificial sweeteners can cause increased appetite
  • Diet soda can encourage higher consumption leading to greater risks of all the above

Medical studies and personal experience has shown that removing soda (in any form) from one’s diet can result in instant weight loss of up to 12 lbs in just a few weeks!

If you need to, limit yourself to one 12oz can 1 once a week as a treat. I understand that the stuff is hard to avoid, and caffeinated ones can be even harder to kick, but trust me, its worth it!
