Basic Circuit training
Yesterday I talked a little bit about how important exercise is to staying healthy. I briefly showed a circuit training workout, and today I wanted to go into a little bit more detail about the workout.
First, this workout is great for those who are new to going to the gym (or have very little experience in the gym) or those who are new to circuit training. You will notice that nearly all the exercises can be done on a machine. Machines are great for developing the primary muscles used in lifting and so are good place to start. The exercises in the main circuit are enough to work your entire body, so consider the core exercises a bonus to take on only if you want.
If you are unfamiliar with what these exercises are, feel free to ask someone at the gym, as these are very common lifts. If you aren’t comfortable with that, take a look at fitnesslink.com, they are a great resource for looking up exercises.
Lift a weight heavy enough that you feel like you can’t do anymore on the last rep. I highly recommend taking it slow at first, and don’t be embarassed and go for some lighter weights than you might normally try. Do this workout 3 times a week for a quick, complete, total body workout.
